International Friendly: Remy Strike Sinks La Roja
Loic Remy scored the only goal of the game, as France defeated Spain 1-0 in an international friendly at the Stade de France.
Vicente del Bosque started with David de Gea in the poles, while he also gave a debut to Real Madrid defender, Daniel Carvajal.
It was the French who had the first effort of the game in the ninth minute, as Mathieu Valbuena's long range strike forced De Gea into fine save.
Spain eventually got themselves into the game, and came close in the 28th minute, as Cesc Fabregas' deflected effort sailed just over the crossbar.
De Gea was called into action in the 39th minute, as he did well to keep out Karim Benzema's strike from the edge of the area.
The home side thought they had the ball in the back of the net five minutes after the halftime break, however Benzema was flagged for offside, although replays suggested the striker was onside.
The French eventually took the lead in the 73rd minute through Remy's powerful finish into the top corner from inside the area, after being teed up by Valbuena.
David Silva came close to leveling matters in the 84th minute, as he turned before firing inches wide of the upright, with Hugo Lloris beaten.
The Spanish pushed for a equaliser in the closing stages, but the French defended well and managed to hold on for the win.
