TEAM NEWS: Welbeck & Ramsey start for Arsenal

The £16 million signing from Manchester United will lead the line for the Gunners while Frank Lampard replaces Yaya Toure for the Premier League champions

Arsene Wenger has handed £16 million deadline day signing Danny Welbeck his first start for Arsenal for the clash with Manchester City.

The former Manchester United striker scored twice in Basle for England on Monday night and teams up with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil across the frontline.

As Goal reported on Saturday morning, Aaron Ramsey passed a fitness test and is also named in the starting XI.

For City, Frank Lampard surprisingly starts in midfield with Yaya Toure not deemed fit enough to feature.

The former Chelsea star slots into a midfield containing Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, David Silva and James Milner as the Premier League champions look for a positive result ahead of their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich in the week.

Manuel Pellegrini also names £32m centre-back Eliaquim Mangala on the bench, while former Gunners Bacary Sagna and Samir Nasri are also named as substitutes.

Arsenal Starting XI: Szczesny, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Wilshere, Ramsey, Alexis, Ozil, Welbeck

Subs: Ospina, Chambers, Gibbs, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Podolski

Manchester City Starting XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany (C), Demichelis, Clichy, Fernandinho, Lampard, Navas, Silva, Milner, Aguero

Subs: Caballero, Kolarov, Sagna, Mangala, Nasri, Sinclair, Dzeko
