UEFA Champions League Report: Schone Rescues Point For Ajax

A 73rd minute goal from Lasse Schone rescued a point for Ajax Amsterdam after they played to a 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in a Group F, UEFA Champions League match at the Amsterdam Arena on Wednesday night.

PSG started well and were on the attack from the word go as they controlled the flow and pace of the game.

The away side created their first chance on goal in the fourth minute when Lucas da Silva met a Maxwell Andrade cross, but he saw his header well-saved by the keeper.

Ten minutes later and PSG did make their pressure tell when Edison Cavani pounced on a rebounded shot from Zlatan Ibrahimovic to stroke the ball home from 14-yards out, 1-0.

The game lost its fire after that and chances on goal, from either side, were few and far between.

PSG entered the break a goal to the good.

The second half saw Ajax see more of the ball as they began to mount a bit of a comeback.

After a sustained period of pressure the home side managed to level matters in the 73rd minute when Lasse Schone found the top corner of the goal with a curling effort from the edge of the box.

Four minutes later Schone almost gave Ajax the lead, but he saw his shot from 16-yards out touched onto the post by the goalkeeper.

Neither side could find the winner as the teams shared the spoils.
