Barcelona; Enrique: Messi Didn't Participate Much
Barcelona coach, Luis Enrique, has praised Malaga for isolating Lionel Messi after seeing his side drop points at La Rosaleda.
The Catalans succumbed to a goalless draw against the Andalusian team and lost their 100% record this season after a frustrating evening saw them fail to register a single shot on target for the first time since the 2003/04 season.
“The fact that Messi didn’t participate so much is a credit to Malaga," the Spaniard told reporters.
"It’s clear that the more he participates, the more dangerous we are.
“For us, finding Messi is key – and if we find him we will be more dangerous.
"That was what we found most difficult and it’s clearly credit to our rival.”
Enrique also refused to publically criticize any of his players, saying that he will do so in a private forum.
"Self-criticism will come behind closed doors. These players do that when we win, so imagine (what happens0 when things don't work out," he added.
"There is a long way to go, but we are on the right track and we will look for solutions, not excuses.
"These players aren't machines - we are competing every three days."
Barcelona will look to return to winning ways when they play host to Granada on Saturday at 18:00.
