International: Blatter For TV Proof In Football

FIFA president, Sepp Blatter, seems keen to implement the TV proof in football, allowing managers to challenge referee’s decisions, within the next year.

Blatter, who today announced that he will stand for re-elction for the FIFA presidency, plans to hand coaches at least one review per half and could implement trials in 2015, perhaps at the Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.

"They have the right in the half, twice or once, to challenge a refereeing decision but only when the game is stopped,” he explained.

“Then, there must be a television monitor but by the television company and not by another referee.

"Then the referee and the coach, they will go then to look, and then the referee may change his mind, as it is the case in tennis, for instance."

The 78-year-old and FIFA have long been against the use of technical support in football, but could now take another important step following the successful implementation of goal-line technology during the World Cup in Brazil.
