Champions League: Tevez Fires Juve To Victory, Atletico Lose To Olympiakos

 Juventus got their Champions League campaign off to a winning start, after they defeated Malmo FF 2-0.

Carlos Tevez opened the scoring 59th minute, with a composed finish from 12-yards out, after being teed up by Kwadwo Asamoah's back-heel. The Argentine then sealed the victory in the 89th minute with a delightful free-kick.



Last season's finalist, Atletico Madrid, began their Champions League campaign with a 3-2 loss to Olympiacos in Greece.

Arthur Masuaku gave the hosts the lead with a stunning strike from 20-yards out, before Ibrahim Affellay doubled the lead with a composed finish in the 30th minute.

Mario Mandzukic pulled one back in the 37th minute with a well placed header, however, Kostas Mitroglou restored Olympiacos' two-goal cushion 72nd, while Antoine Griezmann grabbed a late consolation in the 85th minute.


Goals from Hulk and Axel Witsel secured a comfortable 2-0 win for Zenit St. Petersburg over a 10-man Benfica at Estádio da Luz.

João Moutinho scored the only goal of the game as Monaco defeated Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 in their Champions League group opener.

While, a late strike from  Burak Yilmaz cancelled out  Dennis Praet's 52nd minute strike, as Galatasaray and Anderlecht played out to a 1-1 draw at the Türk Telekom Arena.
