Bayern President: Selling Kroos Was The Right Decision
Bayern Munich President, Karl Hopfner, has described Toni Kroos’ sale as “justified”.
The German midfielder left the Bavarians in a €30 million deal this summer, with only 12 months remaining on his contract and Hopfner believes that the club did good business.
"Toni Kroos did not want to extend his contract, which would have meant that he would be free to move on in 2015 without his destination club having to pay any fee for his release,” he told Kicker. “This means that his early sale was the right decision."
Kroos departed the club shortly after winning the World Cup with Germany, where he topped the Castrol Index rankings for the best player at the tournament.
The 24-year-old’s performances at the tournament pushed up his market value, but the fee paid for the midfielder is regarded by many as the bargain of the summer.
