Di Maria’s Agent Hits Back At Real

Angel Di Maria’s agent, Eugenio Lopez, has hit back at Real Madrid and revealed his client didn’t want to leave Los Blancos.
Lopez claims Real didn’t stick to their salary promises for Di Maria and he would have been prepared to stay for a lower salary than Manchester United offered him.
"Di María signed for Manchester United with a net salary of €8 million. He would have stayed at Real for much less,” Di Maria’s agent told radio station COPE.
"Ángel wanted to stay. The difference was €1 million per year. Real began the negotiations but did not want them to advance.
“There was no offer from Madrid before the World Cup. The plan was to negotiate after the tournament and the intention was always for Di María to stay in Madrid.
“Ángel simply wanted to earn what was promised to him and would have been prepared to stay for less than his salary in England.”
Lopez explains Di Maria always felt ‘not wanted’ after Real didn’t stick to salary promises, but Carlo Ancelotti didn’t want the Argentine to leave.
"When he joined Real he accepted a lower salary than the one agreed. Then he was promised an improved contract after six months, but they took two years to do it.”
“He (Ancelotti) did everything in his powers to ensure that Di María remained at the club.”
In the end, it was a club decision to sell Di Maria to balance the club’s books and he joined Manchester United for an English transfer record fee of £59.7 million.
